Community safety

Community safety is related to actual and perceived levels of crime and the fear of crime in a local area. The level of crime and anti-social behaviour in Hackney is slightly higher than the London average, but overall there has been a decrease in the level of crime in recent years.

Experience of crime impacts on the mental and physical health of victims, families and those witnessing or participating in criminal and anti-social behaviour. Fear of crime may also lead to negative impacts on an individual’s health and wellbeing and may be a barrier to individuals engaging in health improving activities, including outdoor activities (such as walking and cycling).

Below you can find a number of documents identifying the local population needs. Please note that this list will be updated as and when the new information becomes available.
