Let’s Talk: sexual and reproductive health

Sexual and reproductive health—health and wellbeing linked to sex, sexuality and contraception—are a normal and important part of our lives. Not everyone finds it easy to talk about. Not everyone knows enough about it. And not everyone knows where to go for services or support.

To support you, your community and the people around you, this resource kit gives you practical tools to build knowledge and confidence. It also shows where people can go for services and support. This is for anyone living in Hackney or the City of London.

What is it?

There are leaflets, slideshows and service pages. They are all available online and free to use by anyone. If you are a Community Health Champion, a volunteer, a peer mentor, a befriender, a social prescriber, or a colleague—however you engage with people around you—this can help you have conversations about sexual and reproductive health topics by giving you correct information and easy to use tools. There are also more in-depth training videos, and maps that show you where all services are.

1. Leaflets

You can download or print the leaflets.  You can share them on your phone. The leaflets are a snapshot with key information, and a link and QR code to free local services for each topic.

2. Slideshows

The slideshows are more detailed. They give important information, answer common questions and promote discussion. They also have a list of free local services, with clickable links. You can use them when you organise a group session with your club, community organisation, or colleagues. For example, you host a coffee morning and you want to share information about menopause. Or you run a youth club and you want the young people to have better information about sexual health.

Top tip – if you are a presenter or organiser: Go through the slideshow by yourself first and familiarise yourself with the topic this way. Find out which bits you perhaps find challenging, and practice saying some words out loud. Remind yourself you don’t have to know all the answers. If people have specific or private questions or concerns that the presentation cannot answer, the links to all the services are there for them to use.

3. Service information pages

If someone just wants to know where they can go for a particular issue or service, there are online pages that have all relevant services in one place. People can use it to book appointments or request an online service directly.

All leaflets and slideshows have the QR code or short link to connect to these pages.

4. Training videos

There are also in-depth training videos that you can watch before doing a session on a specific topic. They are linked below. There are extensive notes for each session. We have included the original presentations as well.
