Census and wider resources

Explore interactive dashboards and tools from external organisations.

Census profiles

Office for National Statistics’ ‘Create a custom dataset’ page allows you to make your own population datasets by selecting different combinations of census variables.

Population health explorer

Two interactive tools have been developed by North East London Integrated Care Board where users can investigate the health of residents in their borough and neighbourhood. You can explore the health conditions (e.g. asthma), health status (e.g. palliative care) and health outcomes (e.g. admissions) and compare all metrics by different population groups. Visuals can be found in the population health explorer and an interactive table, with the option to download data, can be found in the population health metric viewer. To access these for the first time, you will need to request access.

Primary care network profiles

Primary care network (PCN) profiles have been developed by North East London Integrated Care Board (NEL ICB). These are interactive reports including information on the GP registered population, such as size and changes overtime for different groups. Also information on health conditions, and primary and secondary activity.

Fingertips profiles

These profiles provide collections of indicators covering a range of public health topics. They have been developed to show local area data alongside relevant comparators. The Public Health Outcomes Framework provides data on a range of topics relevant to the improvement of healthy life expectancy and the reduction of health disparities between communities.

Local authority dashboard

The Health Foundation’s Local authority dashboard brings together data and insights on the state of health and health inequalities across all local authorities in England. Explore how our health is shaped by factors such as housing, employment and income, and explore differences between neighbourhoods in each local authority.

Further resources

More resources can be found on Future NHS public health intelligence online page. The resources section includes more detailed information on the latest Fingertips updates and provides easy access to a range of public health intelligence resources from OHID, ONS, and NHS amongst others by topic area. Members can also find information on training, technical guides and methods, the latest public health intelligence calendar and a directory of useful national links and contacts.
